This book is excellent! Biblical Fiction is my favorite genre, where some aspect of Scripture is used as a basis for a novel. In this case, it is "spiritual gifts" along with the age-old battle of evil versus good and God's love & forgiveness that is extended to anyone, regardless of their past. In this book people with gifts can be super heroes or super villains. Satan always tries to duplicate those things of God and in this book it contains the same idea, although Satan's name is never mentioned. Instead you have "evil people" who are out to take over the world and control others. What makes this so bad is that they have supernatural abilities!I was given a free advance copy to review this book, but was instructed to give an honest review. I can honestly say that Bowen Greenwood did an excellent job writing this action-packed novel, furnishing super heroes who are learning more about themselves as gifted individuals as well as learning about a relationship with God and all of this takes place as they battle against the super villains!. It's not preachy nor is it "hokey." It's just plain good! I loved it!

Mr. Greenwood doesn't disappoint with this latest effort of good versus evil. Even though it's routed in the teachings of the bible, you don't need to be very proficient in the teachings of the bible. I just love the introduction of superhumans and the organizations that they belong, such as AAA and you'll need to read this fabulous book to see what these organizations are. Give it a try, I believe you'll love it like I did. Job well done by Mr. Greenwood.
This is the second Bowen Greenwood book that I have been given a free copy in exchange for my honest review. Having read all of Bowen's books I am always looking forward to the next one and this was no disappointment. With all of his books I have noticed an improvement on the editing and this in turn, for me, makes them much easier to read. It is very distracting for me to have to reread a sentence, trying to figure out what was being said.
Fire and Thunder is the second book in the Sons of Thunder series and I think he did a very good job of putting in just enough review, of the first book, to help you remember, but not so much that it becomes distracting. Following the lives of young adults on their journey of discovery and acceptance of gifts from God. To use these gifts for good or evil is something that each much decide and Bowen's book has a good balance of showing the human nature of his characters. Even though some choose to use their gift for evil, it is not taken away from them. They have freewill and they must each travel their own path.
My only disappointment after reading the second book in this series is that I now have to wait for the next book in the series. Mr. Greenwood does an excellent job of building up the characters’ back stories while leaving a little mystery to reveal at a later time. So far, every book I have read by the author has been hard to put down. So hard in fact, that I seem to be able to finish them too quickly. It's almost like eating a chocolate bar and really just getting into the flavor before you look down and realize you just finished the last bite. In a world where the majority of works of fiction are usually full of extreme violence, sex, and bad language, it is refreshing to read books as exciting as Mr. Greenwood's that also contain a Christian theme and do not exemplify the immoral ways of this world. Thank you Mr. Greenwood for the effort you put forth to provide the reader with a great story that also contains a great message.

This book reminds like bits from Frank Peretti vs. Marvel comics and DC comic superheroes!
First of all, at the beginning someone has a vision that says, ”Millions die in fire unless you find Terri Jackson.” Still throughout the book there is really no confirmation that told me why she had to be found or millions would die? Why Terri, as she does not have superhero abilities or does she?
Was that a red herring to throw the reader off or just to get us thrilled about reading the book?
I wish the good guys of today had Connor Merritt’s superhero ability, a bulletproof body.
The characters in this story live in the world but they are way beyond that with their super abilities. They fight with fire, invisibility, healing, seeing into the future, teleport, telekinetic, and much more; and that folks, is where of course, the government agent Maven Flake, steps in. We can’t have anyone with super abilities out there running around and the government not know or understand the why? Because the government has to be superior and the rest of us well you understand right? They would be labeling us as zealots.
In this story there is a group called ‘The Legion’ with Sebastian as their leader and then there is a group called ‘The Sons of Thunder’ with Ethan Moses as their leader-father figurehead. Most of the characters started out in “The Legion” because they were all together and just trying to figure things out.
Enter Ethan Moses an older gent, which with the help of his friends, will bring them to “The Sons of Thunder” and give them a chance to repent and forgive by teaching them about The Bible. They will still rescue people with their superhero powers but go about without revenge.
Yet Ethan, he does not force his young ones to abide by what he ultimately says.
They still do go out and fight with the notion still inside of them, winning is the ultimate goal however it turns out. Within a reasonable timetable they do remember to fight with the right intentions.
There is a character introduced in the beginning who is called Hope and she is what Drake Tesla’s revenge fighting is for. He thought he knew her and when he thought she was dead and he will do anything to avenge her death to the one/ones he thinks is responsible. But is she dead? What are these good vs. evil groups fighting for? Freedom or is it for something more enlightening?
You need to get this book if you love reading about adventure and chaos.
I haven’t read the first book in this series but I still was entertained.
I love the fact that there is no sex or profanity yet there is some violence but so far no murdering. Therefore, you can have an adventure and not murder someone; you just have to be like the author Bowen Greenwood and work harder at it.
There is good and evil is this story but there is good vs. evil in the world. There is no place you can go through reading or real life that you do not come into contact with good or evil. Eve made sure the rest of us never forget that!
If you don’t appreciate the Bible then this book of adventure is not for you!
