Energy reduction trial shows significant financial savings

Geoff Clifton, Business Development Manager for VO4HOME
VO4HOME the leading, Yorkshire based, voltage optimisation company’s recent product trial, in conjunction with not-for-profit business support consultancy CO2Sense, and MJ Energy Services, sees significantly reduced bills, lowered carbon footprint and decreased energy usage for those involved.

CO2Sense is a not for profit environmental consultancy that helps businesses to cut costs and carbon emissions.  They offer businesses in Yorkshire and Humber the chance to trial environmental products and services that can substantially reduce environmental impacts and costs.

VO4HOME’s voltage optimisation system is one of the key products selected for the Targeted Market Development programme. This innovative technology can both lower energy use and CO2 output – resulting in a reduced electricity bill for the customer.

“Mike Jackson of MJ Energy Services kindly located the trial site - a small business with a significant electricity requirement due to its use of numerous fridges and freezers.  The voltage optimization device was fitted and energy usage monitored and then measured against previous levels, and the results have been incredibly encouraging.  The project demonstrates the tangible financial benefits for those involved in the project, whilst simultaneously lowering their carbon footprint. It’s very much a win-win situation for the customer”, said Geoff Clifton, business development manager for VO4HOME.

Mr. Clifton added,
“VO4HOME is a cost effective solution that delivers tangible savings on energy consumption. Payback is usually within 4-5 years, although this time frame lowers with each energy price hike, which means that it is an increasingly commercially sound investment, Plus it also comes with a 5 year product guarantee.”

MORE THAN JUST STREET LIGHTING CONTROL

Christmas lighting can be remotely managed by Harvard’s LeafNut system
Harvard Engineering’s multi award winning wireless street lighting monitoring and control system LeafNut, has been proven to manage more than just street lights by successfully controlling Merthyr Tydfil’s Christmas street lights.

The solution for Merthyr’s Christmas Lighting uses a MagNode - a miniature wireless radio control system - attached to groups of Christmas lights. This allows the system’s central server to communicate with each group of lights, ensuring they can be accurately synchronised at times of switch on and off.

By using LeafNut to manage and control festive lighting a significant number of man hours to install and maintain the festive lighting can be reduced, as lights and fuses do not need to be checked individually.

LeafNut provides Local Authorities with the ability to increase the reliability of Christmas lighting, also allowing for greater maintenance accuracy, as operators can identify light problems in advance, accurately predicting failures.

Michael McDonnell, sales and marketing director at Harvard Engineering, commented,
“We first intended for LeafNut to be used solely for street lighting, but the potential for the system to manage and control a variety of outdoor lighting quickly became apparent. The solution can not only help Councils with different outdoor lighting requirements, but also many companies that manage large outdoor lighting systems to save energy, reduce CO2 emissions as well as maintenance costs.”

LeafNut was chosen to power the Christmas lights in Merthyr Tydfil after the solution was successfully being rolled out across the council’s street lights.

Harvard Engineering
Established in 1993, Harvard has grown to be a leading player in the LED lighting and wireless street lighting industries. Harvard’s innovative range of products includes the CoolLED range of switchable drivers and LeafNut, the revolutionary wireless remote monitoring system for street lighting.
