In April Harvard won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise, within the Innovation category. The award, which was presented by His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent, was in recognition of the success the company is experiencing with the revolutionary wireless remote monitoring and control street lighting system, LeafNut.
LeafNut was also the reason behind Harvard winning the Orange Innovation Award, at the Orange National Business Awards in November. Sherry Coutu, Investment Committee, NESTA, who sat on this year’s National Business Awards shortlisting panel, commented:
“Harvard Engineering scored highly for its innovative wireless street-lighting system.” And declared LeafNut as “A triumph of customer led entrepreneurship”.The company’s new premises in Normanton, Wakefield, includes a world leading research and development centre, a manufacturing facility - with some of the most advanced automated assembly equipment in the industry - a showroom and a large open-plan office space. The larger premises are ideally suited to accommodate Harvard’s ambitious and ongoing growth plans.
Michael McDonnell, sales and marketing director at Harvard commented,
“We have had another extremely exciting and successful year and we would like to thank the whole team for all their efforts. We are now looking forward to the next 12 months as we continue to implement ambitious growth plans both in the UK and internationally, whilst continuing to develop new innovative products.”
To meet the growing demand for its products Harvard has also recently established new offices and relationships in Spain, Italy and Australia, following on from the success of the French office which opened in 2010.
All Harvard’s products and solutions are fully researched, developed and manufactured in their facility in the UK.
Established in 1993, Harvard has grown to be a leading player in the LED lighting and wireless street lighting industries. Harvard’s innovative range of products includes the CoolLED range of switchable drivers and LeafNut, the revolutionary wireless remote monitoring system for street lighting.
LeafNut:
The LeafNut system has been deployed in approaching 100 locations across the world
The system can save up to £46 a light per year and up to 100kg of carbon emissions per year on each street light
LeafNut comes with guaranteed savings
LeafNut uses the WiMAC wireless CMS technology to remotely monitor and control the output of each individual street light
The innovative technology reduces maintenance costs by identifying lamp problems in advance and accurately predicting lamp failure
LeafNut helps councils meet Carbon Reduction targets
The LeafNut system is a result of the senior management teams 20+ years experience in the lighting industry.
