Hiley Engineering Yorkshire company receives nomination for the Government’s ‘Made by Britain’ initiative

Yorkshire firm Hiley Engineering - a world leading designer and fabricator of bespoke integrated conveyor systems for the food industry - receives significant recognition of its manufacturing abilities through nomination for the government's high profile 'Made by Britain' initiative, by Halifax Labour MP Linda Riordan. 
Recently launched by Business Secretary Vince Cable, the 'Made by Britain' project takes its inspiration from the hugely successful Great Exhibition of 1851 - which was a celebration of modern industrial technology.  Each of the UK's 650 MP's have been challenged to search for examples of manufacturing ingenuity and innovation in their constituencies, decide upon the leading candidate and nominate them for the scheme - which is what has happened in Hiley's case.
Initially MP's nominations will be shown on an online interactive map, with a view to expanding the project, possibly with a major exhibition, to coincide with next year's Olympics and Diamond Jubilee.
The nomination is the culmination of what has been an exciting 12 months for the company, which has seen its longstanding national and international profile significantly heightened on the back of a number of major overseas orders.

A recent visit by Linda Riordan MP to Hiley Engineering's Halifax base provided an opportunity for her to learn more about the company's operation and sector expertise. 

"One of this country’s greatest strengths is its pool of skilled designers, makers and engineers and Hiley are a fine example of British manufacturing excellence.  And therefore provide a perfect candidate for the 'Made by Britain' project.  Not only are their innovative design and manufacturing skills seeing ongoing success within the UK and international markets, but, importantly, they have also had a positive local impact on the Halifax economy.  Through both job creation and an active apprenticeship scheme."
